Caregiver Daily Checklist
A simple, printable daily log for family caregivers and senior care providers. Use it to keep medications, meals, vitals, hygiene, and mood organized from morning to night — and to hand off a clear picture to the next caregiver or clinician.

- Administer morning medications with water
- Prepare and serve a nutritious breakfast
- Encourage water intake (aim for first glass of the day)
- Light stretching or range-of-motion exercises
Midday care
10:00 AM – 2:00 PM- Mid-morning snack and hydration check
- Cognitive activity: puzzle, reading, or conversation
- Short walk or seated exercise as tolerated
- Assist with toileting as needed
- Prepare and serve lunch; note appetite
- Administer midday medications
- Rest or nap in a safe, comfortable position
Afternoon activities
2:00 – 6:00 PM- Social visit, phone call, or video chat with family
- Hobby, music, or light household task together
- Hydration check and afternoon snack
- Skin check for redness or pressure areas
- Toileting and hygiene refresh
- Prepare for any scheduled appointments or therapies
Evening routine
6:00 – 9:00 PM- Serve dinner; note portions and appetite
- Administer evening medications
- Evening hygiene: wash up, oral care, change into sleepwear
- Mood check-in and calm activity (music, reading)
- Set out water, call button, and any needed items within reach
- Confirm night light and clear path to the bathroom
Overnight & handoff
9:00 PM – 6:00 AM- Assist to bed and position safely
- Log sleep quality and any nighttime waking
- Note any incidents, falls, or unusual symptoms
- Record medication changes or PRN doses given
- Write a short handoff note for the next caregiver
